Warranty on Nissan Leaf purchased from Kilowatt Cars Pty Ltd Standard (Statutory) warranty on vehicles that are less than 10 years old or travelled less than 160,000km’s is
Three Months/5,000Km’s, whichever occurs first. During this time we must repair any faults covered by the warranty in order to ensure the car is safe and in a reasonable condition for its age.
Note: even after the statutory warranty expires, you still have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that you can rely on if there is a problem with your car. The level of protection will depend on things such as the car’s age, condition and the way it has been treated.
However, due to the confidence in our product, Kilowatt Cars will provide
Warranty for 6Months/7,000Km’s, whichever occurs first. Please note inclusions and exclusions as per consumer affairs:
webpagehttps://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/cars/buying-a-used-car/warranties. Any repairs undertaken will be commensurate with the age of the vehicle. Second hand parts, if available and in good condition, will be considered acceptable to use.
Battery Warranty: In addition to the Lithium-Ion battery warranty coverage as regards defects in materials or manufacture, we will also offer a degradation warranty on the battery pack as listed below.
We will take a reading of the battery State of Health at time of purchase. (This is expressed as a percentage:100% being new, 95% meaning the battery has degraded 5% and so on), and then allow a certain amount of degradation of the battery over a fixed period of time. Warranty applies to the State of Health reading on the day of sale (Not from a new 100% battery). Warranty will vary on the type of battery fitted to the vehicle (24, 30, 40 or 62kwh) as set out in the table below.
Vehicle | Battery Capacity | Year | Warranty | Maximum Battery Degradation allowed over warranty period. |
Nissan Leaf AEZO | 24kwh | 2013-2017 | 6months or 7000km whichever occurs first | 5% |
Nissan Leaf AEZO | 30kwh | 2016-2017 | 18months or 20,000km whichever occurs first | 14% |
Nissan Leaf ZE1 | 40kwh 62kwh | 2017-2019 2018-2021 | 3 Years or 30,000km Whichever occurs first | 22.5% |
So as an example, if you had a ZE1 40kwh Leaf, and the battery had degraded by more than 22.5% over a 3 year period (From the Battery State of Health recorded on the day of sale), then Kilowatt Cars would replace (with a second hand unit) or refurbish the existing battery to bring it back within the limits specified by warranty.
If the battery had degraded by say 20% (From the Battery State of Health recorded on the day of sale), then no remedial action would be required to comply with our warranty obligations.
What is explicitly not covered by warranty:
Damage, failures and/or corrosion caused by or resulting from:
- Misuse and abuse, such as using the vehicle to tow (It does not have a tow limit approved by Nissan Australia), overloading, driving over curbs or other obstacles, driving through floodwaters, using the vehicle as a power source unless via a fully approved and certified system (Contact Kilowatt cars before using the vehicle as a power source to confirm it will be ok).
- Misuse due to not reading and understanding the Owners Manual
- Use as a race, competitive, taxi or ride share vehicle.
- Accidents or collision
- Unauthorised repairs
- Sometimes the vehicle may have dash cams etc fitted on delivery. None of these are covered by warranty (some are there to read the tollway signs in Japan)
- Aftermarket accessories
- Damage to tyres
- Theft, flood damage of any sort, car wash or high pressure washing, broken glass
- Normal wear and tear. Blown bulbs, chips, scotches and the like.
We suggest having your Leaf checked over by an authorised workshop yearly to maintain reliability and safety. The cabin filter should also be replaced at this time. When towing, please use tilt tray/flatbed towing
